BEHIND STUDIO LUSPI

Hi!

My name is Maria Lieberman and I am a teacher, ceramicist, a lover of mud and living on Melbourne’s Mornington Peninsula!

It all begins with producing beautiful, functional and versatile pieces that are durable and reflect my passion for quality formations. I aim to throw each piece identically, however they will all have slight variation in colour, dimension and texture; it all depends on where that piece sits in the kiln.

This is what makes them unique and one-of-a-kind.

I continue to learn and experiment new ideas and techniques and enjoy the infinite variations and possibilities that clay has to offer.

The Process…

  • handbuilding / wheelthrown

  • trimming

  • drying

  • refining

  • into the kiln for the first firing - bisque

  • glazing

  • into the kiln for a second, and in most cases a final firing - glaze

Ceramics…it all takes time, precision and patience.
