My Story…

The person behind Studio Luspi - My name is Maria Lieberman and I am a teacher, ceramicist, a lover of mud and I’m living on Melbourne’s Mornington Peninsula!

It all begins with producing beautiful, functional and versatile pieces that are durable and reflect my passion for quality formations. Each piece is handmade, no two pieces are exactly the same. There may be slight variations in colour, dimension and texture, it all depends on where that piece sits in the kiln. This is what makes them unique and one-of-a-kind.

The Process…

  • handbuilding / wheelthrown

  • trimming

  • drying

  • refining

  • into the kiln for the first firing - bisque

  • glazing

  • into the kiln for a second, and in most cases a final firing - glaze

Ceramics…it all takes time, precision and patience.
